Creativity is in my genes. One of three children I grew up in a house where art and craft were second nature. This was driven by my mother who was an exceptional seamstress, a gymnast, a dancer and a creative choreographer. It didn’t stop there with mum; she loved to paint and to experiment with all types of media from pieces of drift wood to living plants. There was never a time when she wasn’t working on a project or creating a new one. She inspired me every day, and I have gratefully inherited her creative passions, as well as her belief in fairies at the bottom of the garden!

Growing up my happiest moments were outdoors, on the beach, taking long walks in the woods, or simply lying on my back in the garden looking up at the cloud patterns in the sky. I still find sanctuary and clarity in these places; spaces where I can clear the cobwebs from my mind and find the freedom to think and explore. It is nature that has always been my creative inspiration, and you will see this in my work.

I have for most of my life lived and worked in the Cambridgeshire Fens. The iconic flat landscape of the Fens, lends itself to the most breath-taking clear night skies, sunrises and sunsets. ‘Looking up’ at these skies is a favourite pastime of mine and resonates in much of my art work. The moon has always captivated me and many of my paintings reflect this connection. The moon, twilight and night-time skies never fail to capture my imagination – instinctively drawing me to my paintbrushes.

Having recently moved to Cornwall, I am now looking forward to even more inspiration from the amazing Cornish landscape and the breathtaking dramatic coastlines that Cornwall boasts.
